phpBB Extensions

What are your thoughts on phpBB's new extension system? While I'm not much of a phpBB guy, I've heard that it's a lot more organized and simpler than the MOD system.

Much much easier than the old MOD system. Download the extension, unzip it, upload to your forum via FTP & enable it via the ACP 🙂 No more manual editing of code required. I'm about to open a 3.1 forum and am really liking it compared with 3.0

The New Phpbb Extension system is so much nicer. It is much much easier to use and upload modifications compare to the previous system. However, the problem with the new system is that there aren't as many new extensions and it takes time for them to be developed. Also, since it is a free forum software, extensions development seems to be rather slow and this is not good for the people who want to use Phpbb 3.1.
