PHPBB got hacked

It isn't the first time something like this has happened... I can remember it happening about a year or 2 ago.

phpBB is safe though so there is nothing to worry about... Only worry if you use the phplist mailing list software.

Considering the size of phpBB and the ability behind their team members you would have thought they had their own mailing list software.

I guess this sends out a message, keep up to date with your software. ~wink~

They could make their own but i am sure it is a time issue... It would tie one or a few people up for a while so they can make the software when they could be using that time developing and supporting phpBB. They would also have to fix andy issues themselves.

phplist is a popular software so they thought they may as well put their time into better uses and use a ready made script that is widely used. Makes sense.

The attacker(s) got a copy of the phpBB.com users table... this goes to show how important it is to keep your site software up-to-date...

Wow... thats why I recommend IPB -😉-

As above, the actual forum software wasn't hacked...only the website was...through a 3rd party software they were using. Undoubtadly phpBB will lose members over this because people don't take the time to read things properly.

However, the result of this could end with them creating their own mailing list software -😉-

Im sure none of them are sleeping well at this point, its been a few days -n-

This is killing their SEO massively as well. Google has already re-cached the site with the new title ~lol~

SEO can be brought back easier than users who switch to different softwrae though :\

Im sure theyre not happy about either right now...feel sorry for them.

And it is as slow as freeforums hosted forums are -lol-

It takes about 15+ seconds to load a page most of the time.
