phpBB mod question

I need to update my Quick Topic Title mod and I'm very new to phpbb.Was wondering to update do I uninstall the older version first or do I just install the newer version?
Any help would be great.

Does the mod you use provide update instruction from the version you are currently from to the version you want to upgrade to? If so, follow them and it should be easier.

There isn't but there is an update.php in the root folder.
Sorry but not good at all with codes lol

Is there a contrib folder in the download? Usually the update xml files are in there.

There is in that folder.I use automod would that be hard to update through it.

Ahhhhh... I thought you were doing it manually. I haven't really had many positive experiences when using automod in the past and I really haven't used it enough recently to be able to advise you properly.

Before doing anything though, I would recommend making a full backup of all your file and DB just in case.

I think we have all learnt the hard way from not having backups in the past. I certainly have :yes:

Ah! Automod.
I stopped using that ages ago.
Only because it's so buggy.

I would uninstall the mod and reinstall the newer version.
From my experience, automod had no update feature.
Mind you I used it so long ago, it may now have this feature.

From what I got off google is to uninstall and reinstall as well.

It usually does have an update thing, if you go into the automod tab and then press details on the mod you want (quick title) on that page you should see updates available.
