PHPBB to SMF RC3

If i convert this site to SMF what would it convert besides the portal? Would it work?

Mods do not transferred as the portal mods for phpBB is different to the portal mods used on smf.

As Fowler stated it won't be, however there is a portal mod for SMF which you can use, I believe it's called TinyPortal.

I'm a bigge fan of SimplePortal, mainly because of the closure of the TP website. If I were you I'd wait until Gold or even RC4 (which should be soon, as the bug tracker is getting cleared).

I agree with kirisute. Or just convert to 1.11 . Mods will not convert though. However anything phpbb has in a way of mod can be found with smf.

Will the database screw up with the portal installed?

^no it just will not convert.

If in doubt just disable all your mods and make a backup before you convert.

So if you mess up its not the end of the world.

Backup is the key word. If I were you what I'd do is download the database and files of your phpBB forum to a thumbdrive and unplug it from your computer while converting. Unplugging isn't necessary, but it'll make you less likely to alter that backup.
