I am a somewhat lost, and teaching myself how to use PHPBB3 forums. Anyway, I was wondering with my user groups, when you add a member to the default global moderator group, the username doesn't change color, so is that an issue, or do I have to install a mod? Also, I was wondering how to change the smilies? 🙂
You will have to make sure you set the Global Moderator group as the default group for that user. The default group gives the user the appearance of that group, ie Color Name, Group Avatar, Group Rank, etc.. You can do this by going to Manage Users and select the user, then in the drop down menu select "Groups". Now click on "Set group as default for member" behind the Global Moderators Group.
There is also another way of doing this, you can go to "Manage Groups" and click on Members behind the GM group, now mark all (or just the ones you want) and select the option "Set group as default for user". You will also see a box, when adding new users through here, that says "Set group as default for user". This will immediatly make it their default group when adding them to that group.
You will have to download the smilies somewhere and upload them to your FTP in the /public_html/images/smilies directory (assuming you've installed your forum in the public_html folder. Otherwise you will first have to navigate to your forum directory. You will then have to go the Posting tab of your ACP and click on "Smilies", from here you can either Install a "Smiley Package", which will automatically install all your smilies for you (most of the time provided in a smiley package) or edit/delete/add new smileys manually.
