Spam bots have now started to get round the GD CAPTCHA on phpBB3 which is not good to see. Luckily we don't have the default CAPTCHA on here (Mainly as i find the phpBB3 CAPTCHA really hard to read).
We have a question and answer mod installed instead of the Captcha... Also i have noticed that setting the GD CAPTCHA background noise to a low number (Like 5) stops them. We did have alot of guests bypass the CAPTCHA causing their posts to be needd to be approved but since making the CAPTCHA harder we haven't had any problems with them although the image is very difficult to see in my opinion although i find it with easy settings pretty hard to see anyway.
I'm currently installing this mod. I have hear good things about it. I had a spam bot get throw so I have beefed up my antispam a ton. SO I hope to have this soon.
We have a mod that stops signups from GMT-12 and the Q+A mod but there seems to still being a few signing up which are signing up using the GMT+8 option which is China/Australia.
I know, but they don't really advertise any of the usual spambot things like porn or viagra. They just make these really long random sentences with random links like "wow gold" stuffed in them. >_>
