I found this tip very handy in phpBB3, if you don't want rank names in user profiles in viewtopic etc, it normally requires some editing, well you can put a hard space which will do the same job.

When you are asked for the rank name just use "Alt" 255, that will then leave the field blank.

Some rank bars have the ranks written on them, so it's like telling them twice.

Agreed on that because you are beating the system with a hard space, it does look quite natural though and not a forced space.
