i just downloaded it how do i upgrade it

Upload the files then install phpbb3 click the convert tab at the tab. Select the phpbb2 forum then upgrade. (it dose take a long time)

I am not sure why you lost members but to upload a template go into your phpbb3 folder in your file manager -> Go into your phpbb3 folder -> styles -> upload it then extract files.
