Physical or virtual copies?

When you buy a movie, music, book, do you prefer the physical copy or to download it?
I prefer the physical copies. Then if something happens, you will always have it whereas Kindle, Streaming Services, can delete them on whim.

when it comes to films and music and whatnot nowadays it's all streaming virtual copies 🙂 I have not brought a DVD in years. It's not that what I prefer it's how the new future is. I like to touch and hold 🙂 but then again space is what I don't have.

I don't buy too often and always go for the freebies. When I've bought off Amazon in the past, if it gets removed from my Kindle, I can always download it again.

Haven't purchased a movie or music in years because I just listen to music with Spotify and most movies I care to watch are already on streaming or cost me a couple of dollars to rent it for a few days. The only DVD I've purchased in recent memory is AEW Revolution 2022 and that was only because I attended that event live and so wanted a physical copy of the event as a souvenir.

Games I tend to get physically unless it's only available digitally, or just works out better to own digitally such as smaller titles or pick-up-and-play type games like Puyo Puyo Tetris where I'll just play a few rounds of it and then likely switch to another game.

I've always preferred physical copies, I have a huge collection of music on vinyl, tape and CD. I have however spent the last 5 years ripping the entire collection, nearly 5 terabytes worth into uncompressed FLAC files onto an SSD based server for convenience and because all the aforementioned formats degrade.

I also have a fairly large film collection on DVD which I had intended to rip but as there will always be similar or better quality versions to stream I think I'll stick to streaming and save myself a lot of time.

As far as books are concerned I'll always lean towards the old fashioned papery things. Digital versions are simply not the same.

If it has value to me then physical, but if it's something that takes a lot of space I don't have then digital.

I'm so computer/smartphone oriented that I think I would prefer virtual copies.

Though, I went through a crazy music stage once and own two CD towers worth of CDs.

Some years ago, I used to value CD's but not anymore. I love downloading everything including my games.

I've got a lot of my storage unit full of dvds and blu rays I used to go so crazy buying them. Once we get our own place we will get them though.

Good luck selling them nowdays as people even myself do not want them anymore

Me just doing digital copies of video games and even movies now. I have no room for physical stuff much anymore!

I prefer to get my movies and shows on DVD or BluRay. Streaming can get expensive.
