Picnics, mobile phones and umbrellas to be banned for London

Heard this on The Wright Stuff where the three items above are to be banned from the 2012 Olympics. You might think this is crazy but I personally think it's legitimate if you think about it... picnics cause litter, mobile phones cause disruption and umbrellas... well, nothing wrong with them but what happens if it's a rainy day?

I don't exactly understand this. I see the Picnics and Mobile phones but umbrellas? What could they possibly be doing? 😛

I guess someone could hide their identity under an umbrella if they set off a bomb. But really, the idea of banning legitimate activities and equipment sounds ludicrous.

Picnics aren't the problem, it's the litterers. Phones aren't the problem, it's poor officiation and regulation within buildings to prevent distractions. Umbrellas, well, are umbrellas.

With the phones, what if someone needs to call 999 (UK) for an emergency and no one has a mobile phone. Oh dear.

Good point, but if they were banned then someone will have to make do with a phone within the stadium. I wonder what else will get banned... I really don't want to know :shake:

It's the same for the FA Cup semi finals at Wembley, also includes camera's and bottles....you've basically got to sit there, freeze to death, die of thurst and starve and you can't capture the moment for prosperity 🙁

At The Riverside stadium you can't have bottle lids ,doesn't stop us, we just hold the drinks by the lid or stuff them in our coats.
