Description I have created a Pit Bull forum.

Pits and pit mixes are our main thing but thats not all we are about, other breed of dog owners are welcome and soon there will be a cat section of the forum.

The forum includes General chat, state to state and world wide chat, breeders, rescue, health, training and MUCH MORE!

Please stop by and Join if you have a Pit bull or a dog, if you know some one who does please spread the word!

Hey,
You got a nice forum layout for starting out.

You skin is quite boreing, try and get a nicer skin.
If you need a nice logo, get one from the forum promotion graphics team.

thank you, and yeah I know.... but to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing.... I just was just flying by the seat of my pants..... I'm still learning.

I will be changing things up I'm sure.
 
You will get used to it, just have a look around at other peoples forums and you will get a good idea of what you have to do to gave a nice forum.

yeah thats what I did a little but I just haven't learned the "behind the scenes" stuff yet.

I'm impressed with myself for getting as far as I have. :lol:
 
We were all new to forums once...

If you need any help with the behind the scenes stuff feel free to ask here as lot of people have used phpBB3 and i have been using it since the beta's over a year ago (for testing) and i have been using it for this forum since RC 3 i think it was so i know phpBB3 inside out... well apart from the permissions but i think i will never understand them -lol-
 
I think i nkow just about everything there is to know about manageing phpbb3.

Not installing mods, just all the other stuff.

well here are some of my issues right now. I'm just going to copy them because I have asked in another forum and didn't get that much help so lets see if some one from here can help me.


Well #1 its not letting me post pictures other then in links or an attachment.

#2, is there a way I can set it to where I'm the only person that can do the big stuff. Reason being is I'm the only person I know so I can't get someone I know well or trust to be moderators and what not, so I'm going to have to find some one that joins and I would like to have it where no one can over take me. It that possible?

#3, I don't under stand the permissions, I think I have them set but every time I edit a forum they go back to none set and then that make it un-viewable to the members. I just don't understand it I guess.

and I would kind like to make it look a little better.... but thats the least of my worries.


with the posting pictures, if you have any tips.... will they work becasue I'm hosted on another site.... Will that make a difference or is all phpbb3 the same?

#1 Have you tried to post images using the img tags?

#2 If you make yourself the only admin then you will be the only one to do all the big stuff. If you want another admin then make sure that you make yourself the founder. An easy way to do it is go into your profile by clicking your username on the online list or whereever then you should see a link which says "administrate user" so click that then you go to the acp and you see all your info and you will see the founder option and set that to yes if it isn't already and that will mean that no one can delete or ban you.

#3 Permissions isn't really my thing as i don't understand them myself so i can't help much on that one unfortunately.

-- Mods stand for modification so these are extra things you can add to your forum to add new features such as we have added the cash modification here on top of many others which add features that aren't by default available. You can only add mods if you host it yourself and you can't on a free host as you need access to the phpBB files.
 
ok I think I fixed the "founder" thing, as far as the pictures go I have tried every thing..... do you think it might be my style?

To my knowledge the style wouldn't affect it. I have signed up and tried it and got

Is that what you are getting?

I don't know what is causing it not to be able to determine the dimensions of the image -~-
 
yeah thats what I get too.... I was reading in FAQs which you could go and see for your self ..... but it says that on the forum you cant use HTML. I just dont understand It.

it was suggested that it might be the layout... before I asked you so I changed it any ways.... just to see. This kinda really sucks.
 
Great forum Boykin24! I don't really like their host (even though i am the moderator on the support forum) because the admin does not know what he is doing.
 
Boykin24, I think i have solved the issue on your forum with images so if you use the bbcode it should work fine now.

TLP, i am sure he would love to hear one of his support staff saying that -lol-
 
it is a free forum so there is not very much you can do execpt change the site logo, and manage the forums, anything else he is not able to do, plus there is adverts all over the forums, i would suggest paying for hosting, you can get it reasonably cheap,
