Plex

Perfect, then you can slap Docker on there and spin up a Plex Media Server container and you're up and running 🙂
I had to put the brakes on my setup. Have to take down the server for a little bit. Moving around somethings to get some work done to the house in the computer room. Hope to have it back up within the next 2 weeks or less.

Absolutely, things happen, but you'll get there and then it's play time with Plex, lol

Yeah, my wife is looking forward to this. We will still keep all the movies we have. But pack them up. We are going to have a brand new storage area in the house for them soon.
Yep, that's what I did! Funny how much space you have when you suddenly remove nearly 800 small plastic cases from your shelves lol

I’ve got it set up, but I’m going to have to upgrade my external optical drive, it’s working very slowly at the moment.

@PGen98, what software do you use for this part of the process? And do you compress the file to save space? And reduce quality a little bit?

Ah, that's unfortunate, but there are good options out there relatively cheaply that are fast!

My process is probably different from most, but I like to use MakeMKV (https://makemkv.com), it costs $50, but it's perpetually in beta, and the owner has decided to keep it free while it's in beta, so far over a decade lol. If you go here: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053 you'll find a license key the developer updates every couple of months that lets everyone keep using the software for free.

I use that to rip everything to .mkv format, which can work for Plex, but I then prefer to convert them to mp4s using Handbrake (https://handbrake.fr/). I don't compress them, which does make the file sizes quite large, but quality is better 😀
