Not really, there are tons of forums that are still active, even after being online for more than 5-10 years at least.

I don't believe that is true. While forums may be less popular now than they once were, I don't see forums disappearing completely for a long time to come.

But it depends on each forum, really. Those who can survive the ups and downs will be able to last longer. In another forum I'm a member on, we've been around for 7 years.
