The PM System

The PM system on Forum Promotion is a privilege and not a right. We do not have to allow users to use this feature. If you abuse the PM system in any way you will be punished. We have had a lot of abuse over the years this forum has been around which is why we are starting clamping down hard on people breaking our PM rules.

You will be PM restricted for (and not limited too) the follow reasons:
  • Spam - Sending pointless PM's to users in order to be annoying or to promote a website or product. Sending a PM to random users encouraging them to view topics on this forum is also not allowed. Sending PM's to users asking them to be staff is also not allowed unless that user has asked for you to PM them or they have shown interest in a job on your forum.
  • Language - Being abusive to other users via the PM system is not allowed. Treat people how you want to be treated.

Full rules can be found by clicking the yellow "Attention: Please click this alert..." which can be found at the top of the Compose PM page just above the TO field.

If you break the rules you will be PM restricted. The time you will be PM restricted will vary depending on the offence and you behaviour on the forum in general. PM restrictions are not permanent in most cases. In some are cases where there has been a high level of abuse then a forum ban might be issued.

If you are PM restricted, asking to be unrestricted will not help and it will probably result in the ban being longer. If you do feel that the ban was unjustified then you can email us at webmaster[at]forumpromotion.net or through the contact page here - http://forumpromotion.net/contact.php If you know the reason for your restriction then there is no point contacting us as if you know you did something wrong, complaining to us won't help you get your rights back.

All members are aware of the PM rules and therefore if you break them expect to be restricted. We have reminders around the site and if you choose to ignore them then you have only yourself to blame.

Think twice before sending a PM. If you think the user might find it offensive or as spam, don't send it!

The Giving of Reputation Points

Similarly the Reputation System is a privilege that you're automatically granted to use for yourself once you've made your 4th post. Again, we don't have to let users use this feature. So, it's time to put the record straight.

  • In the off-chance you feel somebody is abusing the reputation system, PM any Administrator with sufficient evidence backing your claim and we'll look into it. Remember, if somebody has given you -Rep that doesn't automatically mean they're abusing the system - no matter how much you dislike it.
Notice: Above is a legacy issue. -rep can no longer be given, but the information is still relevant for old rep. -Rep will not be given back if it is indeed valid, even though the option is no longer available.
  • In the past we've noticed users who give Rep to another user, and instantly give it back. Similarly friends on the forum have a habbit of giving rep to eachother at every possible chance. Please don't do this, it kind of, defeats the point of the reputation system altogether.
  • Rep must not be bought or sold in return for FP Cash or in fact any other means of payment. However, it can be used to entice users into doing you a favour such as completing a graphic request in the graphics exchange forum.

If you are proven abusing the Rep System, your permissions to use the Rep System will be removed indefinitely. To make a complaint regarding abuse of the Rep System please contact us HERE with sufficient evidence to back your claim. Additionally you can PM ONE of the admins here. Your report will be kept anonymous. Any threads/posts made regarding -Rep will not be taken seriously, Please PM an Administrator instead.

When Reporting Abuse of the Reputation System, Please use the Following Template:

Code:
[b]User(s) Concerned:[/b]
[b]Print screen of your reputation page:[/b]
[b]Link to post(s) concerned:[/b]
[b]Why It is abusing the Reputation System:[/b]

Think twice before giving or taking rep. :great:
