I did NOT make this tutorial, I just found it for people who were looking for it, so I decided to post it up here. 🙂
Making a points system on your Forum
Firstly you should be aware that this is a manual points system to award your members with points on your forum itself, meaning you, admin or mods will have to change points for members by hand. This at the moment is the ONLY way of having points on your forum.
Step 1.
Go to your admin panel>>>users & groups>>>profiles and click create a personalised profile.
Step 2.
Select 'a bar' from the drop down menu as the type of field you would like to create.
Step 3
In the name field, call it 'points'
In the description, put 'points awarded for use of the forum'
Leave the minimum value at 0 and set the maximum at 100 (or highest level of points you want to offer. Leave default at 0.
Select no for the obligatory field.
Select 'This field is displayed in writers’ profile and in the members' profile page' in preview section
Finally choose whom you would like to be able to edit the points field, be it admin, mods or members themselves and hit save.
Step 4
Come back to the forum and go into any post. You should see that every member now has a bar in their right or left hand mini posting profile. click their profile button either in the mini posting profile or under their post depending which version you are in. To the bottom left of their profile, you should see the personalized profile option. You can change the amount of points and hit modify for any member like that.
Step 5
Explain to members what the points system is all about. Try to use it to your advantage, you could offer points for finding new members, or taking part in certain things on your forum, be inventive and dont make life hard for yourself by promising points for every post or thread, you will be run off your feet.
