Some topics are pretty heated like abortion and I highly oppose it. Nonetheless, I cannot deny that politics poisons the simple innocence of the Christian message. In fact, it seems like some people on social media are not preaching the gospel, but rather are trying to impose theocracy on people, saying something like, "If only the USA was like the 50s again, it would be so wonderful.".

I'm not a Christian myself, but it seems that by playing on Christianity and politicizing different religious positions, US politicians have forgotten the most elementary teachings of Christ such as love, forgiveness, not passing judgement on others and turning the other cheek.

Not a Christian either. I think our nation should continue to respect everyone's beliefs and not just cater to one religion over all of the others. Christianity and US politics were meant to be separated as our nation was not founded on the Xtian religion. The US government is derived from the people by the people as “We the people of the United States,” The founding fathers believed religion to be a deep personal matter between a man and his god(s) and therefor left it to be separate.

I would go so far to say that Christians who are into politics cannot truly be following Christ - and following him is the only way to have salvation. However, I don't want to be too hyper-critical. However, it seems a lot the case of people speaking of Christianity but not truly following it - in maybe most cases.

True Christians are not "cool people". Christ was mocked for being a worm at the crucifixtion. The Bible says if someone is applauded too much by the world, they need to rethink their behavior.

Again, not a Christian, but I always love a little theological debate. That being said, I'm not sure I agree regarding the good Christian not being able to be into politics. Politics in its most basic form is about deciding on how a society should function. I don't see how engaging in the activity of trying to affect how our society functions is incompatible with following Christ, given that one wishes to make the society conform with the teachings of the Bible.

Yeah, there is definitely a conflict there. I suppose the problem is that being too obsessed with changing people makes you seem like a punk. The humility part is taken down. It's like when all those Christians were siding with Chick-fil-a. I think Chick-Fil-a has the right to oppose the gay lifestyle, but it's nothing to harp in on people, and when will they ever talk to gay people about the gospel, rather than being political?

Nonetheless, the Old Testament Israel with a theocracy with harsh laws, as noted by radical atheists.
