I'm seeing a lot of Google Android game consoles, and the Steambox which is a game console which runs on Linux, and work with Steam for Linux.

If I buy a videocard, motherboard, CPU, RAM, and other parts to build a console, would it be possible to install Android x86 or Linux for PC, and use an USB gamepad controller to make a Google Android or Linux based game console to play on a TV rather than buying an Ouya, Steambox, or Nvidia Shield to play games on TV?

Yes you can, But then it would be a pc with game controller. 😛

The Xbox One, and PS4 could also be categorized as PC since the Xbox One uses a custom version of Windows 8, and the PS4 uses FreeBSD which is based on UNIX which is a server and PC operating system.

Although, I think the Xbox and PS4 has everything built-into the motherboard circuit board like many laptops, so the Xbox, and PS4 can be considered a laptop, but without the screen.

Xbox and PS4 also both uses an AMD APU which is more popular on laptops because the CPU and GPU are built-in to the same chip to save space, and power.

Id suggest building a pc over buying a xb1/ps4.

I agree with you, for the price of the Xbox One, and Xbox One which cost $399-499+, it is possible to build a decent PC which can already play many games without the need to wait for a larger library games to be release in the future like consoles. I read online the Wii U is losing developers like EA, Ubisoft, etc because there are not enough Wii U gamer.

If the PS4 and Xbox One don't have enough gamers like the Wii U, the same thing could happen where game developers quit making games for them because of not enough buyers.

Also, online gaming is free, and there are plenty of free to play games like Team fortress 2, Runescape, Ragnarok, Second Life, etc for PC.

PC games on Amazon, Steam, gog, and other online games store are cheaper.
