I have been in the process of starting a Post 2 Host website where users post a certain amount of posts each month in order to request a hosting account. Some features you will be able to see on the forums are:

View your hosting plan via the forums User CP
Use your own domain or use a sub-domain
No 'over the top' post requirements for hosting
Upgrade/Downgrade at your request
Fast speeds and up-time

Plus much more. If you'd be willing to use this, what would you like to see? Features are endless, and I just want you to have the best hosting experience.

what are you offering ,bandwith wise? and databases? disk space? webmail?

that would help me think. 😉

The lowest package is 2GB Disk Space with 20GB Bandwidth, and that is our smallest package.

This would require alot of coding, will you be doing this all on your own? What forum software will you be using?

If so I'm just curious to know what coding languages you can use to code and how well you know them.

I will be using The Hosting Tool to handle signups, but I have integrated it with the MyBB forum, which is what I'll be using. Currently, you will be able to sign up for a package after achieving the required post amount, and when you have an account, that signup page in your control panel on the forums will change to the plan details you are on, how many posts you need etc etc.

I have also made it check if the user is a verified client and if so, it will show:

Verified Client: Yes

in everyone of the users posts.

I don't really do custom jobs in PHP, HTML or CSS and if I do, it won't be cheap.

I Have used "Frihost" which is another post 2 host type hosting provider for over 4 years now. what they offer is 500MB space and 10GB bandwidth. Also DirectAdmin panel with unlimited domains.

There were many others but no one else lasted that long. I think reason they have survived is They offer good support (forum based) and very good uptime.

2GB space and 20GB bandwidth is more than enough. If you can provide good support and uptime even just that package alone even enough. You will get plenty of users.

What you will provide as control panel ?

what will be your system ? I mean will it be point system based of post size ? or post count ?

How do you plan to generate revenue from it ?

You can start with manually handling hosting requests and then most to automated system when you get it done. That way you can start early.

Users will get cPanel with full access.

Just now, I will be basing it upon post count. For instance, post 20 posts a month and you can request the basic package (example).

I do not believe in adding advertisements to members websites (I have the chance to), so the main revenue will be from donations, a couple of paid hosting accounts and through various advertising merchants, such as BuySellAds (example). But not to worry. I have enough money to invest into this, so your website will be online for as long as you stay with us.

Up-time and support is no issue for me. I will be looking to get a staff member to begin with to help on the forums. Support is a key factor here and we do not condone members waiting days for a response. We get back to you the same day and we will resolve any issues or questions you have. Up-time will always be above 99% and when we do have downtime we will always send an email to you as it's most likely maintenance.

You have a solid plan there then. Cpanel with Ad free hosting would be pretty good even if user has to make 20-30 posts per month. It shouldn't be hard either.

I agree with dudex here, it sounds like a great site. The only thing I would ask for is a decent forum to post on. There is nothing worse than going to a post to host website and finding out they have something like 2 sections for you to post in.

There will be plenty sections for you to post in as I hate having nowhere to post myself. There won't be too many sections, but enough for members to get their required post amount each month.

Launch date is within the next week or two. It will open when it's ready I guess. Sorry I can't give a more specific date. But once it does, I'll be creating a promotional thread here at FP with the information.

I can now say that the launch date for this will be within the next 5 days. The custom modification I have to link MyBB with The Hosting Tool is now complete.

Great, sounds good. Will people be able to post to get a domain for their site to?

You have the choice of using a sub-domain or using your own domain. But if you mean will they be able to post and receive a domain with a package, then that will only be possible when we have our weekly domain competition.

Okay, I just thought it'd be something unique for a post to host 🙂
