Power struggles between staff members and administrators happen time and time again on a forum. Staff members seem to go on power trips thinking they are bigger and better than everyone else and the forum falls apart. Have you guys been a member of a forum where this has happened? How can one prevent such a thing from occurring?

I've had this happen once with a moderator on my forum. Before she was hired she seemed great, had a big interest, and was knowledgeable in the niche, etc but that quickly changed once she was hired. She went around editing everyones posts for small things like grammar/spelling or just because she didn't like what someone said, challenging some of the other staff, just all around acting like she was an admin and really rude too. She was quickly fired after we saw her true colors.

That sounds like a terrible experience, to say the least. I'm safe to say I haven't ever witnessed such a situation....yet. It could totally tear a community apart. :O

Nope, that sounds like a bunch of unnecessary drama though.

I try to avoid drama at all costs. I think I've only had one time where the person was really acting power hungry. Other than that I've never really had an issue with any of my own sites or here at FP.
