There's this "toolbar" at the bottom of many forum pages these days (at least that I've been going to) and it's a toolbar that says at the right side of it, "powered by wibiya".
I'm just curious as to why are so many people are using it?
Does it help the admin or the end user with something?
I've been ignoring it so I've not been paying attention to any of it's functions.
I'm not sure, but I guest a good percentage people use Wibiya to make money like web browser toolbars which pay when someone use them to search and click on affiliate links.
I've noticed that when not minimized it can cover info that may (or may not) be important to the user (sometimes being the amount of members a forum has)
If you install this toolbar on your website, you should make a small bottum margin for the toolbar.
I think it would be a better idea to give an option to make the toolbar on the far left side as a vertical toolbar since many website templates like Twitter, Forumpromotion, etc these days don't use all of the screen space and have a left and right margin to make reading posts easier.
Im in that beta and I have to say that I used it on one of my old blogs to manage to community a little better. Saves users time for searching for the twitter account, facebook page, etc.
I agree it seems like a good add-on for a website which is very social like a Social network or blog since it has facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and other plug-ins.
It depends on how many sites you've used and where. Usually, if there is a "mother site", smaller forums/sites that have members on that "mother site" will tend to use some similar features. I think you've just been caught up in a few of those smaller sites.
Wibiya is annoying and I personally see it as just a viral way of advertising. It isn't that great and I'm sure custom coded footer bars are much better and they have more capability to meet the end user needs then a Wibiya bar.
