I've been hearing a lot about PR links over the past few months, but found that they're expensive to purchase through a company. Can anyone explain the usefulness or validity of PR links? If they're any good, is there a way to get it done without having to purchase them?

You can register on forums with high pagerank and put your links in the signature.

But if the forum sets links as "no follow", they will not earn you page rank. I do this on most of my non-webmaster niche forums simply because they don't need to be back link getter forums.

One word of advice, when joining forums, actually be a member instead of someone who is just trying to get a back link. Post often, be active and connect with others.

That might get you great PR while also getting people interested in your site.

When trying to get your PR, focus on forums, blogs and sites that are directly related to your forum niche. Relevant back links are more powerful. But don't go overboard as Google will notice and could consider you as link spam.
