Pre-Launch Review

Site Name: ForumDevelop
Site Type: Webmaster/Administration Forum
Age: ~1 day

Appearance

The overall theme is nice, but doesn't match a webmaster/administration forum. The 'log-in' and 'create an account' button at the top right of index page are not in the same size. The banner is nice, though I think it can be made bigger and clearer. Navigation menu in tab form is interesting. I don't think you need 'Portal' there since when visiting your link I got redirected to index page anyway. The page is empty too. Unless you want to use it, you better take it off. For body part it looks pretty good. The images used for forums, buttons, and topic icons can be modified to better match the forum's niche. For example you can use images like computer, person, writing, or even the gear you used in the forum's banner. I noticed you used the same rank images with your other forum, MarketPro. I simply think it would have been better if each has their own, unique to themselves. You can always find many ranks in other administration forums, or even ForuMotion support forum. The footer is okay; nice and tidy. I think what you need to concern most is the top and first half part of the forum's body, since they are what visitors see first.

Layout

Speaking of layout, I think at the moment you may have too many forums at the moment.

Separate hosting and discussion sections for forum and hosting is not needed. That way you can have more packed sections. Same goes for the branches of off-topic discussions. Forum games may be fine as a stand alone like that, but sport discussion forum alone like that is not a good idea. At least now, as a new forum. Better focused.

One thing I want to mention here is the names of your categories/forums/sub-forums. I don't mean to say that you are copying Forum Promotion's forum names, but they look very similar. I just want to say that there are many other words you can use to make yourself look unique and different. For example, instead of 'Brainstorming' you can use 'The Brain Tree' and write clear description of what the forum will be used for.

First Impressions and Interest

Given there are already many webmaster/administration forums out there, first impression of ForumDevelop wasn't that strong. The forums are still empty, which made you wonder if the forum is truly ready. The theme wasn't that inviting as well; it didn't reflect a webmaster forum although it is not a bad theme. Since this niche is highly saturated, you need to consider carefully what to put in your index page (or portal) to make visitors interested to check deeper and join.

Content

Content wise, I haven't been able to see much going on. The forum has over 100 posts, and looking at the post count that number is from the administrators and global administrators; probably in a place I can't see. Other visitors may think the same too, and they can think you are not really ready yet. I would say make a 'soft opening' first, invite members privately and get more posts from members before a 'grand opening'. To start with you may even have a bit too many staff members; two administrators and two global moderators for a young forum are too many. One for each would be best, so you have someone to chat with for site's development. For further development you can discuss it openly with members to see their opinions.

Grammar wise, I think it can still be improved. For example, in your banner: 'Helping Develop Forums 24/7!'. The meaning becomes strange; after verb-ing forum, a noun or adjective is better there. Just 'help' will do fine. Or, like in your contributor thread: 'Please make your donation ... and message me here once you payed.'. It should be 'paid' instead. Informations' is also not appropriate; it should always be singular.

Last, as you might have known already, create more discussion topics in sections you have, and get members to reply to you before stepping further.

Words from the Reviewer

Webmaster/administration is a very 'crowded' niche, as you probably know already. While there are opportunities to offer various things to visitors, you are highly challenged as well to be able to provide a community someone wants to stay long in. Not only because it is helpful in terms of building a community, but also happy and open fellow members. Good luck working to reach that destination!
