Pre-Launch Review
Site Name: TeleLit
Site Type: Specific Discussion (TV/movie/literature)
Age: < 2 months
Appearance
Appearance wise, the overall theme (both dark and good theme) are good. I believe it can be improved to give stronger touch of being a movie and literature forum, though. For example, creating a banner using pictures related to movies or books or other literature form. Favicon is already good, showing the forum name's abbreviation like that. The navigation bar/menu looks okay. In your dark theme, I think it would've looked better if you put "Preferences" and "Inbox" in one same column with avatar and user name. Moving to the index body, I think you can try to brainstorm other pictures to use as forum/category icons. I guess they are the default from the ZB theme you use, but if you can change it to reflect your forum's niche more, for example TV or book or pen icon, or even better use a customized icon for each section (I'm not sure how to do that on ZB though, sorry). Aside from that buttons and other images look great. For the post layout itself, I think you need to assign a strong line, enough to clearly show the border between one post and another. I was rather confused looking at the thread layout since the posts were so 'close' to one another. There is nothing too troublesome with the footer, looks tidy and good.
Layout
For layout, I think you need to explore more the niche of your forum, which are TV/movies and literature. Only two sections you have for them, one for each. I think you can go that way, but try to add sub-forums for example to be able to explore more parts of that big niche. Add content as regular as you can to make them stronger, then you can think to expand them as forums themselves, turning TV/movie and literature into a category than as only forums. For now the blog category seems rather empty; I think it can be integrated to the other two forums. Then you can split the "TeleLit" category, give another category to contests, polls, and general discussion so you can focus on the on-topic sections more.
About the link to the blog, I believe if you want to give more exposure to the blog you need to put the link in a place members can notice more. It can be as one of navigation menu or move the redirection forum higher up, faster to be noticed. In navigation menu it can replace the "Portal" menu since you don't seem to use it; when I visited the forum first time I was at board index immediately, not the portal.
First Impressions and Interest
First impression is pretty good. The forum is still young, so I can understand the number of posts and members. Still the forum is active, and that is one good trait for a young forum. The current default theme (dark one) is not bad, though I believe you can customize it a bit to give more impression of being a movie/literature. Same goes for the light theme. That way more will be interested to at least click on the link in the forums, and see what kind of discussion you have there.
Content
The content is growing, keep up the good work. I think the scoop of discussion is still small, though. The community mainly talks about movies/TV series. Not many general discussion about movies itself (e.g. stunt actors, movies festivals, and so on). If you want to expand discussion, you can try to build threads about actors/actresses, or other areas related to movies/TV series. Same goes to literature section. Given that literature is more time-consuming than movies (generally), you'll have to be more patient with that section. Try to cover more, for example talk about writing stories, or talk about role-playing. That way I believe members will be more encouraged to post since you have many to talk about, and the forums will be more active.
Grammar wise I couldn't seem to find your forum rules thread. Deciding from your forum descriptions, overall it looks pretty good to me. Just minor mistakes, for example: "Here you may discuss any of the important goings-on in the modern world!". That is a forum description from one of your sub-forums. I don't think "goings-on" is a proper term; I can be wrong, though. You can always replace it with other words, for example "events" or "news".
Words from the Reviewer
TeleLit is still young, still big chance to keep on growing. Continue to add content, and invite visitors to join, by also advertising at the correct target audience. There are many similar websites so you will have to modify the forum to be as unique as possible to survive. Good luck!
