Pre-Launch Review
Site Name:Converse Corner
Site Type:General discussion forum
Age: 2 months approx
Appearance
I have to admit I am not a fan of the skin you have chosen, it just doesn't seem that well organised a skin, I see at least two nav bars, plus you have another bar telling you where you are, it's all a little confusing, I am also confused by the instruction on how to follow your posting, most people know how to click on an icon without being told to, the whole header area could be a lot more inspiring, even down to the banner.
Layout
The actual layout of the forums is good for a launch, not too much, and it's all easily accessible, most general discussion forums try to cram as many forums in, on as many subjects as they can dream up, you've avoided this trap, leaving the forum room to grow and develop slowly and naturally.
You do really need to look at the layout of the header area though, to me it appears messy and a bit disjointed, there must be better skins out there that suit your purpose.
First Impressions and Interest
To be honest my first impressions were not that good, the choice of colours seem a bit dreary and downbeat, too much grey/black tones give the forum a heavy feel, it needs lifting and brightening up.
Interest wise, there is a lot there to interest people of a certain age group, my feeling is that you are trying to appeal to the teenage group, rather than the more mature adult, it's a congested niche so you will need to promote like mad to be successful, but there is no real reason why you shouldn't be.
Content
Launching and being successful with just under 1k in posts is going to be difficult, you have a good amount of forums, and some good discussions taking place, you need to capitalise on this and work hard at increasing your post total.
Words from the Reviewer
An easy way to increase your post content is by using packages, or exchanges, your type of forum is much easier for people to post on because of the variety in topics.
You have a twitter link, however you also need to work on other SEO, Facebook integration, Google + etc, this may all attract people to your site, also ask friends and family to help you out.
I'm going to give you 3/5 stars, mainly because I feel you need to brighten the whole theme up, and for a general discussion forum you should really have looked into using Facebook as a means of attracting members.
