Appearance

I really enjoy the appearance of your forum. The colors are very easy on the eyes and flow rather well together. The fading of the red into the black is also very appealing. The only thing that bothers me is that the theme does not really say "Stellar Dawn Forum". It is a rather generic style that could fit any type of forum. The only thing that I do not like about the appearance of your forum, besides the theme, is the shout box. If you have to keep it, I would suggest to move it to the bottom of the forum. It really takes away from the actual use of the forum.

Layout

The layout of your forum really bothers me. You have "The Front Desk" and "Community Matters" as two separate categories, yet the content of those two could be combined into one category and be placed at the bottom of the index page. Your forum is a Stellar Dawn fan forum, yet you only have one board for the game. I would suggest expanding that one board into a couple different boards. I have never played that game so I am not sure what the other boards could be. You could then merge the other two gaming boards into one and move the merged board into the "Community Forums" category. You could also make the "Forum Games" board a sub-board of the combined games board. And as said above, if you have to keep the shout box, move it to the bottom of the index page.

First Impressions and Interest

My first impression of your forum was "This is a pretty good looking forum. I wonder why they have a shout box though, it really takes away from the forum." Again, the shout box comes into play. It was not apparent right away just by viewing the forum what your forum is about.

Content

For being open for less then a month, you have a pretty decent amount of content. Unfortunately, most of the content is in the off topic boards. Try to direct your members to post more in the Stellar Dawn board and the general gaming boards. As it stands now, your On-Topic to Off-Topic post counts are very heavily weighed to the Off-Topic.

Words from the Reviewer

Overall, you have a very nice forum. Think about getting a new theme that is geared more towards the Stellar Dawn game. Rethink your board layout to better complement the main topic of your forum. Also, Shout Box. 😉 Best of luck with your forum!

Thanks for the review, Patrick. To highlight a few of your points:

The only thing that bothers me is that the theme does not really say "Stellar Dawn Forum".
I'll fix the logo up a bit, thanks. 🙂

While I realize that shout boxes are rather "ugly", my members seem to like it. I did it for testing, and it was flooded with chat...so..I'll see about moving it to the bottom.

Thanks 🙂 I'll work on this.
The forum used to be more-so geared toward Stellar Dawn, and I wasn't expecting you to know this, but Stellar Dawn was halted, and therefore I had to include other types of game conversation to keep alive. The forum was actually shut down due to no interest in the game, so that is why it is like this.

Yeah, I will work on some more main-topic boards, because the off-topic boards are fairly flooded.

Thanks again Patrick,
Awesome review.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the review and I hope that it help you out. 🙂

As it usually is with chat boxes. Think about the number of posts that you could have had if the chat was never added and the members were 'forced' to post to talk to one another in that sense.

I was not aware of that. In that case, the gaming board layout is good as is for now. However, once the progress is resumed, I would highly suggest expanding again. 🙂
