Prefixes

Do you utilize thread prefixes on the forum software you're running? If so, what do you have prefixes for? And how do you like your forum software's thread prefix system?

I absolutely love Xenforo's thread Prefix System. They've got it to the point where you can just absolutely pwn the css so it's like a mini style(over-exaggeration). Plus, it's default in the software! I personally use them to mark important topics, and also to handle service requests 🙂
The implementation of the thread prefixes couldn't be smoother, either; fantastic system 🙂

I recently changed mine up so that gaming threads have prefixes for major consoles and along with some Mario Kart-related forums.

Prefixes are good if you do not want to separate topics by subforums, essentially.

There isn't really much of a use for it on general discussion forums, due to the fact in my opinion, prefixes are essential for getting a better understanding of the thread. Since I'm currently working on a general discussion forum I don't think I will ever add them, but it helps for promotion forums as it helps organize services and such.

You can use them to identify announcements, forum games topics, specific topics within, say, a media forum, etc.
It's all in how you think to use them mate :great:

I actually like the idea of using prefixes, although it can be more troublesome than having a different sub-forum for categorization when you already have loads of threads to apply prefixes to, LOL~ As mentioned above, I think prefixes replaces sub-forums, or come in to give better and quicker explanation of what the thread is about. It can be for formal usage such as for advertisement services or just for fun.

I don't think they could REPLACE subforums, but they can surely help classify like a subforum would 😉

Indeed they are! It's a ton of fun just to mess around with the css to see what you can do 🙂

I don't use many, the only ones I really tend to use are Sticky: and Solved: (for the question board).
