Now I have a plugin for MyBB as my forum is using MyBB software and I have a few questions about a Premium Subscription on my site.

Firstly when is a good time to add premium to a forum? My forum only has 11 members and none are active, not sure why people would bother registering and not be active.

Should premium disable ads or should it just give less ads?

Should there be for a YouTube forum be a premium forum for promoting that only premium members can post in? but everyone can view?

Is pricing the subscription for $1 per month and $10 per year a good idea?

Well you need to reach at least Id say 50 members before asking for premium payment but as for your pricing $1 per month that's very cheap. I'm sure people wont mind it if you add it soon at this price. And most people that pays prefers not to see ads.

Ok I think that is fair enough, 50 members and all I want to use Premium subscription feature for is to cover costs and to give members a way of feeling like they are helping the site (Which they are) and to give them some lovely perks. I think I will be adding YT$ to my site soon that they can purchase things with the money they earn on the site 🙂

I am considering adding a special membership on my forum as well. I would wait till you reach a certain number of members on the forum before you add it thought. That is what I am doing.

What benefits you give the members on your forum is up to you. Some people do ad removal, some will give them their own section of the forum, etc.

$1 dollar a month does seem a bit cheap to me. You can probably do a little more than that a month. It probably depends on what you offer the people who get the premium subscription though.

I think a good time to add premium is when you have a steady user base going.
It should completely disable ads, although a lot of people already have adblock.
Not sure about the YouTube forum.
I like your pricing.

I'm still building mine together and once completed it will be ready for my 61 members. I'm trying to work and bing ideas and creating images taking time.

I have two membership options and here is what I have so far:
-name change
-profile music player
-no waiting in downloading
-more links/images and size in sig
-cheaper advertising
-benefits of more gaming giveaway
-access to game store
-Users awards badges, still being made
-50% less advertisement
-access to hidden forum, galleries and download page
-Have access to 5 user shout box

And I'm still thinking and working. Wazy, you can always help me while you wait.

I'd recommend offering advertisement packages, with premium membership options that include ads as well. Ads are there best way to make money off of a forum, at least in most cases. You'll probably need on the order of 10,000 posts to make any decent money though. As the former owner of a forum that sold a few ads though, I can attest that people will buy ads from small forums. You just have to offer them, and have a forum large enough to attract advertisers. Once you do that, they'll probably come to you.

Hate to see that you had to resort to a plugin. IMPO, that should be a default feature like most modern forum software platforms have...

Add it now, promote it later 🙂 What is the big deal with adding it now? Members have a choice, right?

In most cases, disable ads. However, I don't run ads at all on any of my forums. I feel that it is a win for competition and an encouragement to become a premium member to support a forum that doesn't annoy any of its members with ads they can easily block.

Should there be for a YouTube forum be a premium forum for promoting that only premium members can post in? but everyone can view?

Private boards for premium members is a good idea as long as the private board is worth donating/paying for.

Is pricing the subscription for $1 per month and $10 per year a good idea?

Both! I add a monthly payment option and an annual payment option. I make the annual payment a few dollars cheaper than paying by month as an encouragement to purchase the annual option instead. 🙂
