Preparing for a new forum

For a new forum to succeed, it is imperative that you have “ready-made” posters – these are people who will support you by posting on your forum regularly. The forum also needs moderators and an admin that I think should also be manned by your friends for the meantime. And for the theme, it should be well-thought of, a theme that you enjoy most. Are there other things to consider before launching a new forum?

Moderators aren't really necessary if the forum isn't too big and/or the admin has the time. Also, the moderator's job can be greatly reduced if good spambot protection is used (at user registration).
 
Also start small and add as you go when it gets bigger.
Also good to get your first 100 to 200 posts before the opening.
Also work on SEO and get it ranked up.. So content is important
 
Some people might want to consider a free hosting plan (that can be upgraded with the same company). In that case, they aren't throwing money out the window - considering the traffic will be low at the start.
