Prince William to Marry Kate Middleton

Buckingham Palace have announced the engagement of Prince William of Wales to Kate (Catherine) Middleton today. The wedding date will be announced early next year and is expected to be spring/summer time of the same year. He has given her his mother's engagement ring saying he wanted her to be a part of this special day. It is believed he proposed to her last month while on holiday in Kenya after asking the permission for her hand in marriage of both the queen and Kate's father.

Funny because I think yesterday on GMA they were talking about Prince William and Kate, I guess about rumors of the proposal, and today the official word came out.

What I don't get, Prince William, the top of the world, to marry someone as low as that. I mean I saw her mum on tv and she was wearing leggings and her dad was wearing a stained suit. Suppose thats love and I wish the King and Queen the best.

That's what I love about this, she's from a middle class background. It goes against all usual protocol and it has been said before that her family aren't good enough......but put it this way, she's far more posh than I'll ever be, she went to a private school, she lived in a large posh house and her family are not on short of a bob or two. She also has a royal bloodline in there somewhere even if it does go back to a much older king (who they reckon we are all most descendants of) There's hope for every woman if she can pluck a prince to marry 😉

OOOOh over here we still have a very big class divide and your background makes a huge difference to your life. In the land of the gentry we STILL have ancient rules on heirs to the fortune/title following the male bloodline and marrying into the right family. :yes:
