once i upload the styles to my database via FTP Client. What should i do? I forgot how to do it already.
In the directory tree of your ftp client it will be phpBB3/styles/. (replacing phpBB3 with your boards folder name) <- i do not understand this part..

I think you need to upload your style in style directory of your forum and the new style will be found in your admin panel.

If your forum is chattyden, you will upload your new style to this location : chattyden.com/forum/style. It is just an example.

i upload it in the styles folder in the FTP Client. but when i did the /forum/styles. It does not appear there.

hmmmm...

Check if there is any sub directory where your actual style is stored.

You need to go to your style directory and then click the directory of the new style that you just uploaded. What do you see there? Is there a single directory or different files of that style.

Sorry if I am confusing you.

the directory is this link rite -> boardname/styles ?
if yes, there are 4 different file.

Not exactly that.

You need to go to Board Name/styles/new style (that you just uploaded).

Check if there is a main directory containing all style files or the style files are stored right there.

when i do that, they say the link appear to be broken. As the database is my fren created for me and install the phpbb3 forum, domain and etc.

here is the link: http://rearsenault.com/bestexchange/index.php
tell me which one is which one for Board Name/styles/new style i am blur now. lol

Well, I guess you have downloaded the style as a .zip file.
Navigate to the styles directory of your forum from the directory tree in your FTP client.

Now you need to upload the zip file to the styles directory of your forum via FTP.

Once uploaded, you need to unzip the file and you are done.

Now, you will be able to see you style in admin panel and you can activate it there.

Hope this helps 😀

public_html/bestexchange/styles -> chuck the style's folder there.

You made me break my oath

erm...may I know what was your oath? 😕

where can u find this on FTP? public_html/bestexchange/styles

Open your FTP program, connect to your site. Now depending on what the FTP restrictions you may have, you will see different folders. If you have absolute admin perm, you will see bunch of system folders like .cPanel, .trash etc if you scroll down, you can see public_ftp, public_html, www. Now, you open the public_html folder OR www folder. When there, you look for the folder called 'bestexchange' when you open this folder, it will contain all your forum files. Now look for the styles folder, once found open it and upload the style you like to ..well upload. Then go to your ACP, activate the style etc..

If when you connect to your site, it goes directly to the bestexchanges folder, then just look for a folder called styles.

Now, few things..
1. Some people are just better off on free forum hosts.
2. +rep for ankillien and Nathan

Hello,

With your favorite FTP Client (ie FileZilla of SmartFTP) connect to your FTP. Then go to the public_html folder and as discovered in earlier posts, you will first have to go to the /bestexchange map. This should be the root path of your forum, where it's installed. You should see .htaccess and .php files such as faq.php

In here you will also find a /styles directory. 'Browse' to this directory. Now in here, you will have to upload your style. You can simply do so by dragging the "style folder" from your computer to the designated area. It will then begin uploading and should be around the 500 files. You will have to make sure that when you open the "style folder", you see the following structure:
  • imageset
  • template
  • theme
  • style.cfg
If these are in another submap, you will have to move them up to the "style folder".

Once you've uploaded everything, you will have to navigate to the "Styles" tab of your Administration Control Panel (ACP). In there you will find the Style you want to install!

Cheers,
