Problem with Internet Connection

Guys , I sometimes wonder if I am the only one facing strange problems with my computer throughout the year . :sad:

This time , I have another strange problem with my Internet connection . I have two ISP providing me Internet connection . The first one is a over a PPPoE (there's a modem) and the second one is a direct connection to my computer (no modem) . Recently , when I connect to the internet using my first connection , and I open up firefox or anybrowser or utorrent or anything , it doesn't open up ; even the task manager doesn't open up . Then suddenly after a few minutes , all of these open up all together . Moreover , the browsing speed is pathetically slow although my download speed is not affected .

I initially thought it to be a virus/malware attack . But there's another catch . If I connect to the internet using my second connection , everything runs as smooth as it can be and there's not a single problem . I am wondering how this is possible . If there was a malware attack , then I would face problems with both my internet connections , but strangely it is not so .

Does anyone know what could be the cause for this ?

This is really weird I must say, maybe there is something wrong with the modem itself? Are all the lights on and everything?

Ya , the lights are on and it seems okay from the outside . But , I don't know what's happened to the internals . Also , when I connect using the first one , it takes time for the Ethernet icons to appear in the taskbar .

I really don't understand what's happening !

Have you tried contacting the ISP? It could be the ISP doing maintenance on their servers, and hardware, and they forgot to notify you of maintenance or they are un-aware their service is not up to speed.

Maintenance would have decreased both my browsing and download speed . How come my download speed is fine but its the browsing speed that sucks ! And what about all those freezing applications ?

It could be your ISP DNS server. You can try using Google DNS http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I read online that if your ISP DNS service is slow it take longer for your PC to look up the IP for a DNS name.

This happens to me sometimes, but it suddenly comes back after a few minutes or hours. Some days my internet does not disconnect for a whole 24 hours and some days it disconnects multiple times. weird
