ProBoards

Proboard is a very cool first time creating a forum choice, or at least used to be when I tried years ago to create a community. It is very easy to get the hang of it and it has a bit more than the basic choices. Then you have codes in the support area where all you have to do most of the time is copy-paste in the right headers to implement new things and improve the look and feel of your forum. Some made truly unique styles.

Myself I didn't know any better but I knew of a lot worse that I went through with other free forums so I really believed at the time that proboards must be one of the best free ones. I moved from proboards a few years ago, I still kind of root for them as I think they get more hate than they deserve, at least back in the day.

It is good to get a taste and have a nice looking working community, but there might be a point where you will wish you could own the database. You cannot legally simply grab all the posts generated (same with forumotion and other free hosted forum creators) if you decide to put money and go for a better software. You don't think of that when you are starting because you don't know how long you might go and think free will suffice.

If you have zero interest in coding and simply want to mount a quick hangout, proboards will have your back. You can setup your forums really quickly and change the colours of the skin like filling a form, point and click for colours. Save. Done. If you know what you want probably in an hour you have finished everything and just need to start generating starter threads.

... Version 5, I didn't play much with it. I received the invitation because of my old roczuz board, but I didn't experiment much. I am very curious what are the radical changes that will damage non-rpg boards or the rpg-oriented features.
