Project Glass

The design isn't that bad. (It's not amazingly gorgeous, but it's not as bad as it could be. Plus those are only the prototype/development models they're showing off right now aren't they? So final product could and probably will look much different. Especially if this catches on and more developers want to get in on this.)

Though if this advances, pretty soon we won't have glasses at all... They'll just be embedding this right in our eyes. So we'll all have Deus Ex-like vision with our own HUDs. (Couple that with some real improvements in prosthetics and cybernetics and we'll pretty much end up at Deus Ex: Human Revolution level tech... And all the issues surrounding that regarding transhumanism.)

But before we can get to that point there are some serious issues that need to be addressed right now...

I am really worried about advertising because they can deliver a constant stream of ads to you. And if they can take pictures it means they can really personalize the ads and get more info about you to offer up for sale to others.

Plus I'm tremendously worried about privacy in general with this thing. I mean if this has 4G connection on at all times, they can basically record whatever you see... (ATM passwords, private documents containing SSN/SIN numbers or bank account numbers, etc...)
And if this could be hacked into by someone smart enough, they can basically steal identities even easier than ever.

Plus if they can track everywhere you go, who else will be able to? Could law enforcement? (Will this be like a tracking bracelet for the general public?) What about spouses? (So they can tell exactly how long their spouse has been at work or whatever.)
You can already do this with cellphones kind of, but having yet another device to track someone certainly doesn't make things any less worrisome. (Especially if this device can be hacked by a thief so they can know when to rob your home because you're not there. Plus if they can use image/video recording they have a step by step guide how to get to your home along with GPS location info...)

The tech in this is likely very amazing and it's full of potential, but it comes with a steep cost and lots of pitfalls that we may not be ready for just yet.

Not to mention all that 4G radation leeking into your brain...

LoL, and If you can see them they can see you, and get a retina scan?.

Sounds like a perfect Id braclet for the public...

Google just released a new video for "glass" yesterday and it makes you think. Is Google the new Apple?

EDIT: Sorry, just realized what the first post said.

Other than the likely health effects, I'm more concerned about the psychological effects of having a digital glass strapped on to you all day. Hopefully, the consumers would be smart enough to steer away from it.

I'm still trying to figure out how the guy controls this shiz in the video.

It's mostly controlled by voice control.

I have to agree with you, but society is f****d up these days. You won't be able to stop everyone.

Actually I think It has sensors or cameras that track your eyes, and you look at the menu etc to control It...

Can't imagine how catastrophic that'll be. 😛
