As some of you may know, I have a new Rareware forum called Showdown Town. Basically, I've only received two new members. In order to have more, how should I go about promoting a gaming forum?

Visit advertising sites like this one and take great advantage of their services. Posting packages and post exchanges are your best bet in this situation. Keep adding interesting topics and discussions to your forum. The more you have, the more your members will want to hang around and participate in discussions with you. Keep in mind that no forums grow over night. Some take months or even years before they become successful. With your current members, send out monthly newsletters with updates about your forum. That's the most I can think of at the moment.
Definitely do exchanges with people here.

Also, affiliate with other gaming forums. Also, try affiliating with graphic designing sites. A LOT of gamers do graphics (GFX), and a lot of graphics site members like gaming.
Also, invite all of your friends. Post a LOT of topics on your site as well so people have stuff to reply to.

Try googling thats how I found FP. 😀 look up other forumpromoting sites and advertise it all across the internet! But to warn you gaming forums are hard to start but once they get started well like 500+ members you got it. :great: Unless it somehow dies. 😛

Rareware is a tough gaming forum to promote. A lot of them have died due to Rare being rather quiet lately.
I suggest going to some other Rare/XBox/Nintendo forums, making some friends there, then link them up via MSN or something (but don't link them automatically, have a few chats to them first).
