Promoting on many promotion forums

I don't rely on forums to get my blog traffic. I stick to getting as much search engine traffic as possible. That's the best thing anyone can get. Also the goal is to make sure they keep coming back. This turns into direct traffic where they visit your site everyday.

Promotion on many promotion forums is a good thing, even promoting on smaller promotion forums. Every little bit of exposure helps, even if it's a lot of the same users on multiple promotion forums, they will have other users as well.

As I have shared before, you are not really promoting because these places are all site owners promoting to site owners. The code that has yet to get cracked is for a promotion site, that has site owners promote to an audience that does not own a site, knows nothing of coding and could care less about rounded corners etc. Such promo sites that are free simply do not exists. Every promo site boasts of exclusive this and that, reality; there is nothing exclusive and not one has anything different than the other.

Why do you think so many site owners are staff on other sites? It's because their own sites are not active enough to keep them busy. Many do not want to even hear this perspective, arrogance clouds sound judgment. Most want to hear, your site is awesome, super theme, stellar content.... Problem is, you do not need to hear that from other site owners, you need to hear it from a potential member who knows nothing about forums, sites etc.

Look at FP, the same core member base are members on just about every other site found here and then some. All site owners providing content to each other with very few with an external followings.

Ask yourself this, why do you hang out at these sites so much, if they really worked you would be far to busy to hang out, you would come promote and leave, instead FP has far more topics that are not about promotion at all, reason? People go where the action is.

I have found 10 forums on FP that do not even need to promote here, there core members are not what you see here. They come drop a bullet promo info line and leave.

So for those who say then why am I here? I do not own a forum, There is no code here that will be of use to me, I come here because I got sucked into the same black hole many others are in. I'm not here as much because I've found it simply does not work. This said, there is the back link benefit but even then the new algorithms used by Google are looking at the value added by relevancy. Meaning, you may have 500 back links but if only 10 of them relate to the content of your site, then only those count.

This is my perspective, I can almost guarantee 90% of you will not agree. Hence the proverbial due loop is reality.

"All we are, are just a bunch of forum admin's running around trying to scavenge every single user we can" - Quote from Thomas Edison

It depends on how you promote. if you keep on posting stats and 'come join our forums', then yes, people will get sick of the forums. if you are an active member and promote a new article or a feature (and not IN THE SAME DAY on all forums), I can see it work better.

And this is probably the post of the century. Wished there was a like button 🙂

I stoped depending on other promotion forum other than FP.
Most of those other boards get there members from here so i dont see whats the point. Ill just stick with FP for promotion 😀

I think it helps because you introduce your site to a whole new audience. You never know when a new potential member might be lurking around. Advertising on multiple forums may get annoying in some cases, but it is rather uncommon. I think that advertising your forum on all the websites will get more attention depending on the forum you're advertising on. As long as you just keep trying you will find that forum that will be giving you a ton of hits. Just keep signature advertising on every forum, thread advertise on all the advertising forums you come by, and success will eventually come if you just be patient.

I've started promoting my sites on many promotion sites now. It's proved good, more people are seeing it, and it means I can also buy post packages!

Like any form of advertisement, promoting on sites must be done in moderation and in a not so spammy manner.

First, I would pick sites that have designated areas for forum promotion instead of just sneaking it into a post that warrants intelligent responses. Sites such as this have places where you can advertise (and spam if you wish) to your heart's content.

Secondly, if you aren't posting in the designated area, make sure to offer information linked to your site rather than simply promoting it.

These will make your advertisements much less annoying and drive more traffic to your site.

Good luck!

It's always best to advertise "a lot", but in my opinion if someone over does it, it sort of puts me off joining..
It's a necessity for people to advertise their site if it's to succeed, but there are other ways to "mix it up" and get your name out there.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as too much promotion. 😛

Well if there isn't such a thing as too much promotion, why would it exist? It's the only way to get traffic and the only was to run a forum. Introducing any forum to a new audience gives new people new views and lets them look around. They are satisfied and they join. I don't understand why people pass opportunities to advertise. I had a different view on this forum from the time I joined and I'm still here. People pass on the forum and introduce it to a new audience, and that keeps the forum going until it's closed. That's how the internet works.

IAAM hit the nail on the head.

If you have say 1k in posts on FP, with a link in every post to your site, that will in effect give you 1000 backlinks, however because they are all coming from the same site, and same IP, Google downgrades their popularity.

Far better would be for you to ask your members to put a backlink to your site, in their signatures, that way when they visit other forums you get a link from a different IP, Google likes this.

Instead of 1k in posts on here, you could Google for other niche forums / sites in the genre, make posts on there leaving links as anchor text, Google adores that.

The problem is we are all lazy and think the easiest and quickest way is the best, invariably it isn't.

I think promoting on as many forums as you can is the way to go, alot of users will be the same on the various sites you will visit but it's all about getting the word across. 🙂
