Here are a few suggestions:
1. Write articles about your topic. For example, you could write an article titled ‘Things to consider when choosing a web host. Submit your article to the article directories. Place a link to your web site in the signature. Many people will look to see who wrote the article and possibly visit your page.
2. Create free blogs and Squidoo lenses about web hosting. Link them back to your main web site in the footer or sidebar or where ever you wish to. Your bound to get some visits from them.
3. Join joint venture giveaways. Be sure to collect email addresses. Make a mailing list, get people to sign up and then make monthly or weekly newsletters to give information our to those individuals that subscribed. Give away a free product, which of course contains advertisements and links to your web site.
4. Create a video about web hosting. Put it on YouTube. Encourage people to pass it around or give it away. This is called viral advertising.
5. Join appropriate forums (such as the webmaster forum) and promote your site in your signature.
6. Send out press releases using online services such as PR Web.
7. Send out some text messages and get people to Forward them to their friends. Some will forward. Then their friend's friends will forward and then it just gets out everywhere! (I personally do this one sometimes as well)
