Before I begin, let me apologize about the lateness of this review. I seem to be making a habit out of it, but my body just knows when to shut down I guess! Anyway, I hope my quality will make up for the lateness! Enjoy!
Strengths:
Overall Appearance and Theme
I will admit, I was very surprised when I clicked the link to Promotion Box. First off, I thought it would be "just another promotion swingoff." While there are similarities to other promotion forums, as every promotion forum will share, PB (not to be confused with Promotion Boss) boasts a custom theme and a smooth, soft atmosphere.
There are a few flaws with the overall appearance, however. For instance, I think the way PB currently displays news with the large bubble header at the top of the index is very intrusive. Yes, users see the news, but their experience is also hindered by this big bubble... thingie... In my reviewer's opinion, I think Promotion Box would further perfect its overall appearance by removing the news box and finding another way to communicate news. Other than that, your forum looks great!
Forum Descriptions
If the reader has ever read any of my other reviews, they probably would have noticed how much I go on and on about forum descriptions always being horrible and wrong... Well, that's about to change! While reading over Promotion Box's descriptions for all of the forums, I found myself chuckling and laughing at how cunning they were! Now, there are a few here and there that could stand being changed (pretty much the few that use the word "here"), but most of them are witty! For example, "Talk about anything! Don't get too out of hand now, else the ban hammer will smack you in the face." I mean, this wouldn't be appropriate for a more formal forum, but Promotion Box doesn't strike me as such, so it's great! For one of your weaker descriptions like the Revenue & Hosting one: "Talk about things pertaining to gaining funds from your forum, or hosting your forums." A description to consider could be something like, "Suzy made $5,000 by working at home on her website, you could too!" or something witty. Just something to consider!
Weaknesses:
Lack of Advertisements
So I understand the requester asked for activity not to mentioned, but I believe I have a remedy for you, so I'm going to talk about it! I'm evil, muhaha. Anyway... When viewing your forum, I automatically notice that your advertising services are not being taken advantage of. Logic, at least to me, says that if no one else is using your service, it must not be working. However, if I see other people using your advertisement services, I'd consider it. Therefore, why not hand out a few free advertisement vouchers to some of your members, or people who join up during an event? That way, you can start filling up your ad space, even if with free ads, your forum begins to look more occupied and busier, and more people see the ads and want to participate. It's a win-win, from how I see it!
Unification of Services
Now this is a super, super minor detail and I feel bad using it as a point, but I think it would be nice to fix as soon as possible. Under each service, Promotion Box has a "Request Now!" button...except for the reviews. Like I said, it's a super minor point, but I feel it's worth mentioning as a direct fix...
The Review Service (top) doesn't have the same button as the Bubble Ads (bottom).
Final Remarks:
In conclusion, Promotion Box is an up-and-recoming promotion forum that seeks to compete with some of the top names. From what I can tell, it certainly has a chance. PB boasts a laid back atmosphere with special elements and a custom theme that really solidifies it's own identity. There are few mistakes strewn throughout the forum, and I believe, with a little work and activity, it could become a close competitor in the promotion sphere.
