Promotion Directory Changes - Two week beta

I've defended in the past applying one section with prefixes system because I used to hold the same opinion that it'll give all the sites an equal chance of exposition. Until now we have always been either too many subforums that lead to very little exposition or the current array without zones which has can be overwhelming and messy for some others. I think a lot of the ineffectiveness comes from the lack of intuitiveness nor a clear guide explaining they can filter the area to display only threads marked with a certain one prefix. Either way, I felt members were faced with choice overload and this could have also played a hand on people avoiding the zone unless they were taking care of their own thread.

However, I feel that what is being done here is not reverting back and some of the backlashes might be in part because of the fear of the staff learning nothing and just reverting back instead, as well as the idea that the PD is all it will focus at all which I don't think it's the case here. This is just 14 days of one aspect of the community and the proposal is more of a hybrid between the two modalities the directory has experienced so far.

From what I understand so far, this time the directory is divided into 4 simple regions (webmaster, hobbies, discussion, life) so as a visitor it is easier to find one area that compels us. As a website owner the idea is that no matter which of these four regions our web falls into, the promo thread won't be isolated in some forgotten category. Also worth noting that the prefixes aren't gone either and each category encompass a couple of them so the distinctions for those who are into something more specific are there.

After seeing FP swinging to both extremes I think this is a compromise option that in my opinion addresses the flaws they had by trying to find a nice balance that hopefully simplify things enough to make comfortable the browsing of the Promotion Directory. As a directory making things easier to understand for the potential visitor is a valid concern. I think this order feels more natural.

Lol I read through the posts about being ignored, etc. Honest I felt suggestions are being ignored a lot longer before most, but oh well. Honestly as harsh as this may sound.

I do not believe many people here or even those on staff undertand what this forum is about. More so understand what real promotion is. This is a promotional forum that is suppose to invest in time in helping people gain exposure for their sites am I wrong? If that isn't the case it pretty much contradicts the name. This is why I mention a suggestion related to revamping the promotional directory into something and even maybe offer FP$ to convince people to visit sites promoted here and help create higher quality exposure for sites, but I know this will never happen here and things will continue the same old until things die out. As for the services there is no focus as I mention before the quality of FP services are not that great compared to other places there is no standard here on FP and no plan. People just flaying about hoping for a change to this site that will most likely will never come because frankly I don't see anyone giving a shit, but I said my piece. Good day to you all.

PS: I typed this on my cell so sorry for typos.

I feel my forum has been placed in the wrong section, it is in Arts and Creativity, so the description i put was overlooked as well, mine is a graphics support board and coding tutorial board, and promotions board, for from what it has been categorized as?

FP was built for the new forum owners to get there website going and also help them to learn the tricks and support them. Also we need long term members like yourself to stay and give out our knowledge to the new owners. There has been some websites/owners like gaminglatest that has moved on, and good to see gaminglatest is going strong.

Point is also that all of us, mostly the new are coming here posting to the max of 10 then posting about there website and then pray it will grow for them as they go offline. needs to be more.

Idea!! new exchange system. "Exchange review" An system that we review on each-others website. I make an post "bayside package review" Then I wait till there are replies from members and accept up to 1 to 3 members so it can have up to the max of 4 websites or just two. Then we have up to 72 hours to type out around 200 to the max of 500 characters long.

The end results are
  • They get reviews from each other
  • They get that person (s) joining the site or whatever
  • with the review it helps the owner out, if it needs improving
  • FP cash is not needed unless that member choose to do so
Also maybe consider that they earn FP? like if they review one website they get one point and if they get all points when reviewing website's then they use there earn points to get there website reviewed

Click the "report" button on your topic and let us know which section you'd like it to be categorized in. We'll move your topic to your preferred category, unless it's a really bad fit (which it probably isn't. Looks like your site fits into several niches).

Honestly if you ask me as per the review subject. The Review Service is a bit pointless as it is right now, but I think it would be interesting to see FP take a Theadminzone approach and allow anyone to join the Review Team freely to give detailed reviews to people and making it a free service to begin with. Reviews can only be as good as the one who is reviewing it, but sadly I have not seen anyone part of the Review Team later or within the last year and half that has been good enough to give quality reviews worth the time and cost, but that is my opinion.

As for the Package service I think it needs overhauled completely. It should be based off quality over quantity. The "packages" should care less about offering a ton a posts and offer higher quality posts instead and hire individuals based off knowledge of multiple genres who can offer quality posts. I think packages should be more innovated and offer a more quality-stand approach to like people can pay for a set quality and be charged based off quality, amount of posts they request for. Than having set in stone packages. Maybe @Hissae2 may agree, hopefully.

@Hidden308, I'm not going to hash at everything you have mentioned, but I feel that it is needed to be said, as you and many others seem to either have this slipped from their minds, or they just don't know about it. But the Community Reviews board is named the way it is named, because it was felt that if peer reviews and the review service was in one board, then giving and receiving reviews would be more lively. BUT since people would rather wait for reviews, they have forgotten the purpose of the board, which was to give reviews to each other, regardless of whether or not you can request a review from the staff.

We actually do have a revamp planned in the coming days which I hope you will like.

We do focus on quality as well and not just quantity, PTMs posts should usually be 3 sentences or more. We do our best to make good posts on all forums although sometimes we do struggle when we get requests for unusual genres. If you are ever unhappy with the posts you receive, please let me know and I will make it right.

Paying more for an increased quality is an interesting idea. My only concern is, this will be difficult for us for some genres, and there would be some forums where we may not be able to do this. It's definitely something we can discuss for the future though.
