Promotion or chat forum

Just wondering what people would rather. A promotion forum or a chat forum.
Just post 😀 Gives me a bit of idea on some further plans.

A chat of a certain type..to many general chats and too many promotion forums.

While these are over-saturated at the moment, you're doing an awesome job with your current promotion forum, so I really think you should stick with that. I wouldn't even consider general chat because there are too many sites in that niche out there. Heck, I even run a general chat forum, and I know first hand how hard it is to get those genres off the ground. I'd say general chat would be for people like me who prefer smaller forums over bigger ones, but that's my take on it though.

It then comes down to my health. Running a chat forum would be less stressful. But depends what people want really. I can put ZINC in charge of FC.

I'd rather be on a discussion forum than a promotion forum. My answer would have been the same if you asked me when I was running a promotion forum. 😛
However promotion forums are needed & some have good off-topic community sections.

I have health problems as well, but at the same time I have staff backing me up as well, so if there's a day when I'm feeling nothing short of crap, or else I just simply don't feel like being online at all, then I'll gladly have someone on my staff back me up till I'm ready to return. I agree that running a chat forum is less stressful, because you can come and go as you wish, and there isn't a whole lot to monitor aside from behaviors. But I definitely agree with putting a trusted staff member in charge till you're ready to come back to work, because I know that is what I do if I'm going to be away for a period of time.

I almost tried a stint with running a promotion forum. But then, as I was setting the board up, I suddenly recalled all the problems that you (theezy) had with Forum Advertiser and even some of those same issues that this site has, and in the end I didn't go for it because it would be too much of a headache to handle. I have also been on some promo sites that have very nice, detailed discussions in their off topic sections, but I also think that's because many promo forums have rules that you can't post simply just to gain points, you should try make your posts as good a quality as you possibly can and make them worthy of discussion. So there's loads of pros and cons to this. I guess the bottom line would be to play to your strengths and see what goes the best for you.

Neither you should have a forum about a subject you are both passionate about and have plenty of knowledge about. The more passion you have about your main subject, the more you will enjoy it and the easier it would be for you to run it. I see a lot of forums pick a popular subject they don't know enough about and then just copy a more popular site in terms of look, content and staff. That is a sure fire way of making a forum fail IMO
