Im seeing alot of people add a promotion forum on there website's such as gaming forums etc where i think its not valid personally

what do you think?

I think if you have a Chat forum you can add a small sub forum for web promotion. I know what you mean, some people dedicate a whole section to promotion when it goes totally off topic.

I dont like them, a lot of members just join, advertise and leave, if theres a post restriction they will get to it, advertise, and leave, and you probably wont see them again.

Kind of a double edged sword here. One edge is what you describe, the other edge of it can show some kind of activity.

It can show activity but activity that lasts until they have advertised.

This is true, but I am sure the search engines would love it all. XD

I think its a waste of space really. They have their signatures for a reason, why not just add a link there? Few people look in those forums anyway, I do from time to time just because im cool like that, but few others do. Its a good idea for webmaster forums and such, but not gaming, humor, world talk and such.

Many people just add it as they know that it is a good way to get a few extra posts and get a few more people to sign up.

I guess so. Most new forums dont care how they get the posts, as long as they do. I still dont like it though. Just a waste of space to me. I can see it on a general chat forum though, as a show off your site type thing.

I agree with you jason, too many forums have promotion sections now. Maybe adding one when the forum is quite active is Ok, but it's not a great idea when starting out IMO.

Weird thing is that you lose members that way, if a member sees a better forum, they won't be on the forum that linked to the forum.
