What's your stance on the government seizing people's homes if they don't pay their property tax? Do you think it's moral for any government to seize someone's home just because they can't afford the property tax on it?

I honestly think that's why we have a homeless problem to begin with. Get rid of property tax and we wouldn't have as many homeless people.

I think that the property tax is one burden, but also the school tax, which, for some states is figured through the county, I think? My county has extremely high school taxes which is causing us to perhaps move to a different state all together when my husband retires. Why pay $8,000 when you can pay $1,000?

I don't have the answer to this dilemma besides "move if you don't like it" because not too many governments want to change. I hate it that I'm paying for school stuff when people don't even want my opinion locally on how the schools should be run, just because I don't have kids in the system. It's so messed up.

I don’t think it’s right for the government to take someone’s home just because they can’t afford the property tax on it. If someone already owns their home, it shouldn’t be possible for them to lose it over a tax bill. That kind of policy can push people into homelessness instead of helping them stay stable. In my view, property tax can end up punishing people who are already struggling, and that’s something governments should seriously rethink.
