Protect your forum with a DMCA Badge

Does it also protect your site idea?
Just the content you know, the idea can be shared by many people. I would put the badge as it shows copyright protection and the fact that its from the DMCA website

Yes, it protects your site like a condom.
LMAO

So, only a 99% chance of working? 😛 Anyways, does it cost anything?

It says:
Protect your original content, images and videos

NOT ideas from what I can tell. with ideas I mean stuff that isn't used anywhere else like how my interview site works.

@ Terrorz I see now, I don't need it got copyscape already and a other copyright protector to.

If I would add this I would have 3 of those.

I am thinking of getting a common license.

Its free, you signup, add your site there, it copies your site's structure for proof, so if anyone tries to copy it. Then you have a choice of badges to choose from.

Does it copy everything from the moment of adding your site or does it update every once in a while?

Im not sure about that, but Its better than not having a digital copy. i maybe wrong though. I would suggest this as its from the DMCA website.

It's a genuine idea, but it will not stop or hinder people from attempting to copy from your forum. Nonetheless, badge or not, your forum is copyrighted once personal ideas have been formed.

I agree, but you still gotta try, just like for example hackers will always try to hack your site, dosent mean that you are not going to use security and make it easier for them, you feel me?

The security against hackers would be a phyiscal barrier. This is more of a scarecrow tactic. In that the actual protection is already there by law regardless of whether you post it; this just makes it more prominent and lets people know you take it seriously. In that, it can't really do any harm to post it up 🙂

What if someone copies & pastes someone's content, claims it to be theirs and files DMCA charges against the actual author?

Exactly why stuff like this doesn't work. In addition the Wayback machine hasn't been archiving anything since 2008 (at least as far I can see).

The badge itself doesn't do much, if anything at all. It's really only like a warning sign. Just like the Copyscape banner.

Hosts can still provide raw data logs to prove who was the original owner.

But hosts can alter those.

But that host can get sued if they try to lie about something like that.

Why would a host protect illegal activity on their servers by illegally altering logs to protect themselves and the other party, when they could just easily remove the illegal content? Why take the risk?
