Do you know any tutorials that teach you how to go from PSD or HTML to MyBB? I tried this myself and i failed miserably so I want to know if there is a tutorial out there. I already looked on google but could not find anything.

I couldn't find one either. I had to learn to do it myself.

Tip: Just try to modify the CSS as much as possible and the templates at less as possible. It would give you a design which could go through lots of MyBB updates without being having to redo it.

That's what I have been trying also. I guess I'll try a different template to convert.

I doubt there is a tutorial, as it can vary so widely. My advice to you would be to take the HTML/PSD of the mybb board and then just tinker around with the default style until your design matches. Mybb is fairly easy to style, so you should catch onto it pretty easily.

That's what I did with my first few themes. It just takes so long to have to make up a design as you go. It would be easier to have a visual art that you are looking off of.

Unfortunately that's the way it is. There are probably a few themes out there that would serve as a good starting framework, but I would just recommend building off the default. While it might take you a little bit, it'll be worth it.

Creating themes for MyBB is fairly easy. I've done a few for personal use before and it's not as hard as you may think. Make a copy of the default theme and start with the header. The header is probably one of the easiest templates to edit. Add in your drop-down menu, cool logo and a background (if necessary).

Once you are satisfied with the header, I suggest styling the forum index. This is fairly easy as you don't need many images for this (if any at all). Here you can arrange how the titles are shown, if the descriptions are a tooltip or if you have them shown. Have fun with this section 🙂.

I would then start with the footer, as it's pretty easy to do. Add in your copyright and images and you will be done in no time.

You can then go onto edit the postbit and how posts are shown. Make the buttons CSS, add some colour to the buttons, such as the rep button etc and it can look great. Make sure to edit both the horizontal and the classic postbits.

Not much left to do except the profile pages. This is fairly straight forward, but you can add things such as tabs etc to keep info separated and other nifty wee things.

It's fairly easy when you get the hang of it. To start off with, I'd suggest downloading a free HTML/CSS or WordPress theme and convert it into a theme, it's a great way to practice. Of course, keep copyright intact, or keep it for personal use.
