Is it worth it to get your stuff in the public domain or copyright it? Myself, I would find copyrights hard to enforce, unless you were some big shot. Anyway, the main thing is you want protection in case somebody says you copied them. It's not about them copying you.
 
If something's public domain that's the opposite of it being copyrighted, and copyrighting your work won't stop any accusations of plagiarism.
 
The best way to stop people from copying content from your site is to disable right-click. However, I am not sure if this feature is available on forum scripts.

that won't stop them still LOL - they can use the google development tool on their browsers,
 
Stealing someone's content and republishing on your website does not help your website because based on the publishing date, the republished content will be seen as duplicate content, which means these contents will not rank on search engines and there will be no organic traffic.
 
Anything I release I do so with the knowledge that someone may take it and use it.

There's nothing I can do if say someone in the States takes something without permission.
