A few years back, a staff member on a forum I run wanted to make the Reports public. Actually, come to think of it, he wasn't the only one who felt that way.

Would having Reports be public on your site help with transparency, or would it ruin your forum?

On the forums where I do get reports it would cause mayhem if they were made public. On the forums where I don't get many if any I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid but I still wouldn't make them public.

I would never make that public without a very good reason. Suppose member 1 reports member 2 for something silly, and the report is classified as "unbased". You make that public. Member 2 feels attacked by member 1 and will always look twice at what member 1 posts, and member 1 may feel publicly shamed for reporting something and avoid doing so in the future when there is a real cause to do so.
An exception could be perhaps members that were banned and you would want to protect your other members from being a victim of some scam scheme or so.

No reports to tell, and if there are reports it's in house and never goes outside of the room, bad for business

Making reports is against the terms of protecting the privacy of a user. Therefore, I will never allow this on my forums

Allowing reports to be made public would go against user privacy and would cause a lot of issues if I did take that approach.

I always keep any reports that are made private between the members in question and staff on the forum.

I take good and the bad reports as a good sign, never take it to the heart
