Blink 182 is amazing music. Though RHCP are not in any way punk. NOFX is great, Casualties are ok, though I hated them when I saw them live.

Anyone listen to The Jabbers? Punk band from Mass, famous for being the only band that featured GG Allin making good music, with the possible exception of The Carolina Shitkickers and Criminal Quartet.

Speaking of which, I think you just haven't heard any decent pop-punk, like The Queers. Not my favorite genre either but it's manageable from a band like that.

Lastly, anyone listen to The Juice Bros?

To be fair the earliest stuff of Blink-182 does lean a lot more towards punk than pop. Even The Ramones have been considered "poppy".

Just to make it clear I do not hate pop-punk,I just think it is silly for it to be called pop punk... There is basically nothing punk about them or their music.

Now with that said I do ejoy bands like blink 182 bowling for soup and others.

Oh and I am not sure if anyone has heard of them, but OPM which is a ska punk band has some great songs. Heaven is a halfpipe and rolling are pretty good songs.

I'm really getting into The Distillers at the moment!

Just bought some albums off Amazon from Distillers, Rancid, Uk Subs and Anti Nowhere League

Anyone know Bomb the music industry? All of their albums can be downloaded free from their site so I'm going to check them out, seem pretty cool.

Yeah, I've heard of them, but never really checked them out. They have a decent sized fanbase.

What about The Supervillains? Been listening to the album Grow yer own for the past 2 hours or so, like them a lot so far. Mostly ska punk but there's some reggae, jazz, and a tiny bit of surf sprinkled in as well.

All their albums free? How in the world do they make any money? Or do they not? XD
Concerts are the way artists make money. Most artists with major record deals won't make a penny off of their albums, even if they sell over a million copies. The RIAA has some funny tricks up their sleeves i.e. charging a 30% breakage fee for digital downloads xD

Also they (assuming we're talking about BTMI) release a good amount of their stuff on vinyl in extremely limited quantities (making them collector's items), and raising some money through that. But yeah, go to concerts, buy merch, etc. That's how you can make money. It costs around $4 (sometimes more or less) for screen printed tees. Bands sell them from anywhere between $10-$20 (or if you're Blink 182, $30) at concerts. That $6-$16 goes to the artist after the bills are paid, unless you're at a crappy venue that charges merch rates.

Yeah exactly, look at a band like Badfish. All they do is cover Sublime songs and don't record material but they make tons of money touring from college kids. CDs are only good for promotion and record labels, unless you're someone like radiohead or Trent Razor who got really popular on major record labels making no money and then went independent while still selling a lot

Yes. I wear this shirt, a local band ripping the Bad Brains logo, often. One guy got mad that it was not a Bad Brains shirt, and I had to explain to him that I like both bands, lol.

lol that's pretty funny. Anyhow I love reggae music & I'm a pretty big fan of punk so I listen to them a lot.
