.pw domains

Not bad, I always like new domains. I wrote a post about it on a tech blog, I love it when new extensions are added as you can snap up some good domains (like when I got JD.pe).

For example, if a domain such as vbulletin.(extension) was available, and we bought it, would we get sued by that or not?

There are many different rules for things like this. I own similar domains - I think the rule is if you are using it for a purpose (say, a forum about vB) then it's okay, but if you are domain squatting (buying in order to make a profit), you can be taken to court.

On what do you rely on to say this, I mean are there any links to everything I need to understand about this? 😛

Unfortunately dot pw is just another annoying ccTLD for the rest of us who doesn't have any trademark to protect.

You can use it for whatever purposes that you can think of such as short URLs, personal sites, and the likes; most especially if you managed to snag a name that you've always wanted but couldn't because it's already taken under other TLDs. But just refrain from considering this new ccTLD just because "it could be the new .com" as some people preach, because that's far from happening.

You cannot use the term vBulletin in your domain name whether it'll be a working website or not.

vBulletin is a registered trademark and just like any other company, they would like to protect their trademark for the benefit of their customers. This includes domain names with the word "vBulletin". If you would like to try, go ahead but really it's best for you to leave it alone or you obviously risk losing the domain and it might even cost you.

If it's about using just "vb" in the domain name then that could be another thing.

Are all the two letter domains gone?
Pretty much.
Yeh so many good domains done 🙁 Was there no Sunrise registration period?

-- 11 Apr 2013, 20:00 --

Namecheap just told me: '' Due to the Registry restrictions .pw domain name cannot include more than 63 characters and less than 3 characters;''

Those 63 are in length:

ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Who would register a domain of that length for any extension? Wouldn't be of the right mind. XD

Anytime you can snap up a really good rare keyword for a new TLD, you should do it. What about webmasterforum.pw
Imagine how hard it would be to get that for a .com?

I'm assuming, the 63 character limit would be for a really long keyword phrase the site owner was targeting.
