Your Quick Review
Pros:
I really like the concept of the banner. Very inspiring for writers. Though, it really looks kinda bland the way you have is displayed in the forum heading. It just looks like a pic that was randomnly pasted there just to get one up there. You need to take full advantage of all that space up there.
The skin and theme are nice, though, almost every new forum on this software uses this style, it's kinda getting over used. I do like that you have different new/old post icons from most others who use this same style, wether they're default or premade, they actually work nice on this forum.
Cons:
A forum for a newsletter about poetry, stories, and art. <--- This message under your banner, what does that ewven mean? A "forum for a newsletter". It doesn't make sense at all. It should be something more like,
A forum for aspriring artists working on poetry, stories, and art. Make it grab their attention, not confuse them.
The organizing of the forum is really just all over the place. Everything that is "forum related" should be up in the top category. everything about creativity and artists work, should be in the body of the forum, the middle. And everything off-topic, like "chat" should be placed in the last category.
Suggestions & Ask The Press ... are basically the same thing, you just have to word it correctly, Suggestions & Feedback; both fit nicely into one board, and should go Directly under your forum announcements board, cause it's "forum related" content.
The entire "Glue" category really has no purpose, cause all those boards in that section, you can place somewhere esle.
Final/General Thoughts:
You got the basics down, but if you're wanting to get your forum serious, and get it the recognition you're hoping for, don't just make a forum and let it be at that. Take the time to look around at other forums, particularly those related to your theme; and see what works. Don't copy, just see what ideas do work, and go from there.
What was most liked about the website/forums:
If I had to chose anything, it would be the Banner. Though, it's still unnatractive at how it is displayed, just pasted against a black background.
What was disliked most about the website/forums:
Probably the board layout. It was very confusing trying to find things where I know where they belong, but later found very important sections, all the way at the bottom of the forum.
