I have a question for fellow bloggers, how do sites like CNET receive their news, they hardly ever have to cite people and also, how would I get in contact with companies for comments?
Thanks, I'm hoping to get unique articles for Geeks Hut!
I have a feeling that it's from sources within technology companies that send out press releases. I did press releases for a website for a short time and noticed that they got all their info from a few different email sources. As to how to get that information...I have no clue. Technology blogging is a competitive niche...you'll have to really work to get to the top. *near the top
You should analyse this in reverse. Now, they don't "need" as many sources because those large companies have reason to go to CNET and get their product reviewed. Obviously they know CNET is an authority in technology so if they can get their product known through means other than their direct media, then it's an added bonus.
But how did CNET become so authoritative? Well, they reviewed plenty of products and gave relevant feedback. But how were they able to get so many new products reviewed? They would have had sources and as well as reviewing technology in the boom stage. They would have also been to pre-release conventions, openings, and those events which they have direct contact with large companies.
