I just bought a car on Saturday and it's the first time I've had one with bluetooth. Sometimes people can't hear me talking very well when they call. What are some tips I should know to improve this besides putting my head up toward the car ceiling to shout at the speaker?

Depending on the vehicle you may be able to adjust the microphone sensitivity within the settings. Alternatively, you could purchase a second Bluetooth microphone. Best of luck 🙂

Thanks! I'll have to look and see what I can find in the settings and always forget to play around with things after I'm done driving.

Should I consider if something is maybe on my phone's end with the bluetooth connection?

Unlikely to be any settings which will help from the phone, basically it's only job is to establish the connection. However, you could always use the search feature(if available) within your phone settings just to be sure.

Bluetooth operates within the 2.4GHz band, so interference can come from WiFi and microwave ovens; you can try seeing if it's more common while on the road or when parked near a structure. Though it's likely just a sensitivity issue on the car's end as others have suggested. Bluetooth operates with very low modulation due to a 2-3MHz channel-width, so you'd have to be fairly close to an interfering transmitter for interference to be noticeable.

There is not much to configure I'm afraid. What brand, model and year is the car ? All you can really configure in most cases is the adjustment of your speakers. Microphones rarely break down. Maybe it could be the bluetooth module that's acting up. Is it an original option or retrofit ?

I bought this car as Certified Pre-Owned. It's a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox AWD.

Does your phone support the latest Bluetooth software. Sometime phone maybe an issue, try it with some smartphone model.

I'm not sure. It's an older smartphone but I'll check into this, thanks!
